Proper Magazine Issue 22 - Off The Rails Cover

Here it is, issue 22. Though there’s no particular theme to this issue, it is dead magazine-y in that we have a veritable smorgasbord of different content crammed into these hallowed pages. There’s an interview with the Godfather of Proper James Brown who talks about his new book and playing football on acid. Also on a football tip Michael Richardson has written about the joys of the non-league match going scene. Though if photography is more up your street there’s some on the road reportage from Blossoms bassist Charlie Salt as well as some Off the Rails raunch courtesy of Matthew Comer. We’ve also caught up with some of our favourite authors in this issue, having asked music expert David Nolan to give us his favourite five and exiled Salfordian Ian Hough to explain just what the hell is going on in America at the moment. To be honest we’re still none the wiser about the US situation now but he did use a lot of semicolons and does have a wonderful turn of phrase so he definitely has a point. Sticking on a top writers tip our mate Paul has also done us a cracking piece on Twin Peaks which makes for a top read whether or not you’re a fan and with him being Dutch it’s likely to be the only piece in this mag without any spelling mistakes or poor grammar. Speaking of Pauls, our other mate Paul has written a feature about the type of graffiti that names and shames grasses, which somewhat ironically is a form of grassing in itself isn’t it? Oh and if you buy this mag to read about amazing apparel then you’ll find features on the best waterproof jackets, Oi Polloi in China(town), Gary Aspden giving us the lowdown on the latest Spezial range, vintage adverts from Holubar and Woolrich and interviews with the brains behind Adsum and Sempach. Big thanks to everyone who has helped us on this issue, we love you one and all. Please allow up to 7 working days for UK delivery and a little longer if your order is travelling further. Usually, we despatch much quicker than that, though.
