Fjallraven Kanken Classic Fog - Emperor Penguin
As a gesture of respect to the trailblazing brands we've covered for years, we wanted to doff our creative cap to them.
One such brand is Fjällräven, the Swedish outdoor label recognised worldwide for its Arctic fox emblem and its ubiquitous Kånken backpack.
At a time when the world feels increasingly unstable, we wanted to shine a light on resilience—both in nature and in the brands that have endured through decades of change. It feels fitting to begin with a brand named after one of nature’s great survivors: the Arctic fox.
To mark this idea, we commissioned the release of ten reworked versions of the iconic Kånken bag, each inspired by an animal known for its extraordinary ability to survive the harshest conditions on Earth.
Emperor Penguin endure some of the harshest conditions on Earth, surviving Antarctic winters where temperatures fall to −50°C and winds can exceed 200 km/h. Their survival depends on dense insulating feathers, specialized fatty feet, and remarkable social behaviour—huddling together to conserve heat. They are also the
only birds to breed during winter, with males fasting for up to two months while incubating eggs.
